It is not a rushed consultation.
During your Stroke-Proof Assessment, we will:
-
Listen to your concerns and priorities - this is about you
-
Take a detailed medical, family and lifestyle history
-
Review any existing blood tests or investigations you already have
-
Assess your risk across the key drivers of stroke
-
Identify gaps, blind spots, and early warning signals
-
Separate what really matters from what doesn’t
-
Create a personalised Stroke-Proof Risk Map
-
Provide a clear, prioritised prevention strategy
You will leave knowing:
-
Where your biggest risks lie
-
What you can safely ignore
-
What actions will have the greatest impact for you
You won't get generic advice. You will get a clear Risk Map showing exactly where your dangers lie and what to do about them.

I am certain that you will gain something from your consultation that helps you understand and reduce your risk of Stroke and Dementia. If you don't feel I've achieved that just get in touch and I will refund you 100% of your consultation fee. No quibbles or issues.
What have you got to lose?

What About Tests?
Many people have already had blood tests, scans, or health checks.
Any existing results we can access are carefully reviewed and integrated into your assessment, avoiding unnecessary repetition.
If additional tests would meaningfully change your prevention strategy, these are discussed and offered after your assessment, with clear reasoning and transparent costs.
You will never be sent for tests you don’t need to reduce your risks.
Additional testing is:
-
Targeted
-
Optional
-
Clinically justified
-
Used only when it improves decision-making
Is this right for me?
This Is For You If:
-
You are a busy professional who values prevention
-
You have a family history of stroke, dementia or heart disease
-
You’ve been told your results are “borderline” or “acceptable”, but you want to do better
-
You want clarity, not just reassurance
-
You prefer personalised, evidence-based care
-
You want to reduce risk before symptoms appear
This Is Not For You If:
-
You have an acute medical emergency
-
You are looking for a quick prescription only (although we do prescribe when valid)
-
You are not interested in prevention or lifestyle change
-
You want generic advice rather than individualised care
What Happens Next?
Some people leave reassured, with clear guidance and no further intervention needed.
Others benefit from:
-
Targeted investigations
-
Medication optimisation and prescription
-
Lifestyle and risk-factor support
-
Ongoing monitoring or review
Any next steps are discussed openly, collaboratively, and without pressure.
We are always open and clear about the costs of anything we propose and seek to reduce your risk in the most cost effective way possible.
The aim is always the same:
Reduce stroke and dementia risk in the most effective, proportionate way possible and keep it as low as possible.

About Dr Nikhil Sharma
I am a Consultant Stroke Physician with over 20 years’ NHS experience, including national and regional leadership roles in stroke care.
Every week, I see the devastating consequences of strokes that never needed to happen.
Lives are shattered and quality of life is damaged. My job in the NHS is largely about minimising the harm when people have a stroke and helping them rebuild their lives, but I want to go much further and prevent people suffering the shock of a stroke whenever and wherever I can.
That's why I set up Stroke-Proof — shifting the focus from reactive treatment to proactive prevention, using the best available evidence combined with personalised clinical judgement.
My goal is to prevent a million strokes. My method is simple:
Help people understand their risk early — and reduce it decisively.
